Marissa Bader's Dash Makes a Splash is a picture book for young readers. Dash the droplet desperately wants to fit in with the other droplets. He tries and tries to be like them and do what they do, but he can’t because he’s smaller. They don’t pay any attention to Dash, and this makes him feel sad and left out. Until one day, Dash hears a familiar sound: a rumbling cloud. Dash leapt out and flew like the wind. He lands in a river, where he seems to be all alone, something that upsets him even more than not fitting in. Then suddenly, Dash hears a voice from above. Where did the voice come from? And what did it say? Find out in this wonderful book.

Author Marissa Bader’s book Dash Makes a Splash was a joy to read. The first page gripped my attention as soon as I saw the main character. The illustration of the little droplet by Ellie Beykzadeh is so cute. He is simply designed, but his features bring him to life and add that extra enjoyment to the book. The storyline packs a punch, as the author teaches children that differences are what make us who we are, and that they should be embraced and, most importantly, accepted. Children may feel like the odd one out at times, but this book will give them the confidence to shine and thrive throughout their younger years. And not only will they learn this valuable life lesson, but they will also learn about the water cycle; it taught me a few things too! So, if you are looking for your child's next read, then look no further; Bader’s creation will entertain and teach them at the same time.
