Wow, what a book! That's the first thought I had after finishing Dead Letter by author Marc Kuhn. Follow the stories of Sandra Henderson and Robert Harris, high school sweethearts in 1943. They live in idyllic Centerville, Maryland near the beautiful Lake Corsica and the Chesapeake Bay, and even though the country has been involved in World War II for three years, that seems a remote occurrence to the students at Centerville High. But Sandra and Robert's sweet romance is interrupted too soon when Robert leaves to join the Marine Armed Services. Suddenly the war that had seemed like just a news item to young Sandra becomes the most important thing in her life. When Sandra and Robert's love is challenged by more than distance and war, when Robert's jealousy gets the best of him, we find a mystery of epic proportions, and of eras. In modern times, a dead letter is found and investigated in the local post office. Will this letter provide solutions to questions that have gone unanswered for sixty years? And will it find its recipient or is it too late?

Dead Letter was simply a fantastic read. A wonderful addition to the historical fiction and romance genres, I enjoyed this book from start to finish. Any reader who enjoys historical fiction or romance will love this book, and I highly recommend Dead Letter. Author Marc Kuhn is skilled at creating characters that the reader will truly care about, and paints the world of Centerville, Maine in such vivid colors that you'll feel that you've been there. This is the first book that I've read by Marc Kuhn, but it certainly won't be the last, and I certainly hope that this very talented writer is hard at work on his next book!
