Horse stories and horse racing is not something I read about a lot, so this was a very different read for me, one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Washington D. C. Lawyer Dan Morgan was thrilled that his thoroughbred was finally going to run in a Grade 1 televised stakes race. What he wasn’t expecting was a con that involved his Filly, Aly Dancer, taking this story on a whirlwind of mystery, thrills, surprises and many twists and turns that will surely keep readers captivated until the very last word. And Steve O’Brien’s expert knowledge as a lawyer, along with his expert writing skills, brings "Dead Money" to life in a unique way. The vivid details of the behind the scenes activities of horse racing were interesting and somewhat shocking at times. Not knowing anything about how the racing and betting works, I sometimes found myself lost at what was going on, but the scenes during the racing were very fascinating and I soon caught on. And I really enjoyed the mystery and thrills with characters who are so well developed that you enjoyed getting to know them by end of the book. Evil and greed surely shows its ugly head involving Dan’s awesome filly, Aly Dancer.

For those of you who love a fast paced suspense/thriller, this story is for you! And if you enjoy thoroughbred horse racing, then you have an added bonus with Steve O’Brien’s "Dead Money". I think you will find you can’t go wrong investing in this great read.
