Deadly Secrets by Angel Sefer is Book 2 in The Greek Isles Series, an excellent mix of romance and suspense, featuring compelling characters and a strong plot. When Helena’s father disappeared, she was only eight. Thirteen years have gone by and now, a mature and beautiful woman, she returns to her native Greek island of Mykonos in search of the truth. She will have to follow words of a prophecy hidden in her grandmother’s diary to unveil a world of family secrets and a deadly plot that could destroy her life. But things get complicated when she develops an irresistible attraction to the man who has coveted and seized everything that belonged to her father, the attractive Captain Dimitris Nikolaou. Can Helena look beyond her feelings for this man and choose what is right, or be ensnared by the warm embrace of a man who may not be what he says he is?
Angel Sefer knows how to play with a reader’s emotions, crafting a story that puts the heroine in a terrible dilemma. Readers will be fascinated by Helena and will become very keen on following her, their hearts aching with fear for her. The plot is strong and it reserves so many surprises for readers; it is filled with unexpected twists and turns and readers will find them intriguing. Deadly Secrets is well-plotted, set against a fascinating landscape with characters that are well-explored. The author has a gift for character and plot, and knows how to write about compelling themes without distracting readers from the strong plot lines. I was entertained much more than I hoped when I picked up this book. A satisfying read, indeed!
