In Deception by Lee Maguire, Maegan Mitchell was intrigued by the Hip Hypnotist show on campus. Maegan had some understanding of hypnosis from her previous sessions with Dr. Bryce Davidson, but she felt strange after her experience of the Hip Hypnotist performance. Emilio was also put under hypnosis, and when he began to behave oddly, Bill took him to see Dr. Bryce, as he had not returned to his normal self. Maegan had also been drugged at a fraternity party, where some of the fraternity members appeared to be using hypnotic techniques to seduce women. Something unsettling occurred, involving a secret society known as the Enraptured Circle. Both Maegan and Emilio had been on stage with the Hip Hypnotist, and Dr. Bryce needed to determine whether the Hip Hypnotist was linked to these disturbing events.
Deception by Lee Maguire captivated me from the very first page and kept me engrossed until the conclusion. The storyline was rapid and filled with relentless action that never slowed down. Various stories were intertwined, and none detracted from the others. All the essential elements were present to make this an exceptional thriller. It was filled with suspense, mystery, murder, and secrets. The writing style was compelling, allowing me to easily immerse myself in the tale with vivid descriptions of the events. The characters felt genuine and relatable. Maegan has faced numerous challenges throughout her life and refuses to be intimidated. She champions her rights and is not afraid to seek assistance when necessary. The book was skillfully crafted, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
