Love, loss, magic, demons, shape shifters, trickery and thieving... What more could you ask for? Demons and Thieves (The Seven Keys Trilogy) by Lynda Berger possesses all these attributes and more. Tad Bailey is a sad 14-year-old boy, dealing with the stressors of growing up while mourning terrible loss and pretending not to see his parents fighting on an increasingly frequent basis. Tad is offered the opportunity to change everything for the better, if only he's willing to go on an epic journey chock full of unknown dangers from which he may be unable to return. Tad must make the difficult choice between the safe and familiar, albeit miserable existence he has, and the terrifying yet thrilling idea of traveling through the gate to Shilado, which could lead to finding the key to fixing things and finding contentment.
Demons and Thieves (The Seven Keys Trilogy) by Lynda Berger starts out like a typical coming of age tale, then takes the reader on a roller coaster ride filled with twists and turns! Tad Bailey is a believable young teenage character with well developed characteristics. His internal struggles are understandable and sympathetic to the reader. The journey through Shilado to find the Seven Keys is full of thrills and twists. The ancillary characters are intriguing and wondrous. Demons and Thieves kept me engrossed from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Lynda Berger's tale and can't wait to become engrossed in reading the remainder of the Seven Keys Trilogy.
