Destiny Earth by Tony Mazzarella is a rollicking adventure about the planet Mars, beginning with a reference to the great asteroid that hit Earth about 65 million years ago. Then the canvas shifts to the 'Red Planet' over the ages, described as a habitable place where men and women lived and laughed and played, reaching a fairly advanced level of civilisation. One of the Martian deep space probes encounters a massive 'Planet Killer' comet with an imminent impact trajectory with Mars. The whistle is frantically blown and the message is transmitted to Mars headquarters immediately. But Mars control remains silent! The story revolves around a scientist and his friends and family, and how they face this impending extinction level disaster.

Tony Mazzarella enthralls the reader with vivid descriptions of intrigue, concealment, action packed conflict and a blanket of secrecy over the entire planet taken by Mars government to conceal the fact from people. What will happen to the unwary people of Mars and will the planet survive? A small band of scientists battle impossible odds to try to avert the inevitable, but they are up against an implacable government. The author unfolds unforgettable event after event of breathtaking action, adventure, and courage, including pursuit and escape. This is a fine novel with great action and adventure perfectly balanced for its target YA audience. The protagonists are real and believable. The author takes care to keep the story plausible. Many acts of valor are described in the book, and the undercurrent is gripping. This book is an excellent read and I have no hesitation in awarding it 5 stars.
