Diamonds by Ashley M. Hardy tells the story of businesswoman Cinnamon who is struggling financially and burdened by an abusive boyfriend, Shango. Cinnamon is unaware that Agents Canada and Sutton from the IRS were analyzing some files pertaining to her income and assets. Her business is under investigation for tax evasion due to Shango and his addiction to gambling. During their investigation, the agents discover that Cinnamon is hosting exotic parties which include drugs and debauchery. Cinnamon’s acquaintance Rome is looking for the perfect gift for Rosa, a beautiful redhead who has captured Rome’s heart. Rome decides that a diamond would make the perfect gift, but she would have to find some way to afford the sparkling gem. Rome seeks help from her associates and friends but discovers that not everybody is trustworthy, and people’s lives become endangered.
Author Ashley M. Hardy has created an intriguing, suspenseful story around the lives of Cinnamon, Santana, IRS agents, and Surface to name a few. While diamonds are the main theme of the book, the author has intertwined them in a complicated web of crime, deceit, and love triangles. The story is smooth flowing and succinct, a quick easy read. The interesting array of characters each has their own personality and traits, most of which are easy to relate to. Scenes and locations are unusual including a graveyard – the perfect place for criminal activity. There are several interesting twists, turns, and surprises to keep the reader interested. Diamonds is written for adults only and is not meant for sensitive readers.
