Door to Innocence by Elle H. Raye tells the story of two broken sisters who discover the ultimate power of love and faith. Having been abandoned by their family as children, Danelle and Jessie spent their early years living in foster homes, where they learned to keep their walls up and their voices down. Jessie has strength but still struggles with her self-esteem. Danelle, while resourceful and supportive, struggles to build friendships and fears meeting new people. With the help of their Christian counselor, Lysa, the sisters begin their healing journey. However, just when things finally start looking up, Lysa delivers devastating news about their father. They have to confront what happened ten years ago. But as their faith in God is put to the test, two handsome brothers enter their lives. Apprehensive, Danelle and Jessie question their motives, especially since their shattered innocence is directly linked to a man.

Beautifully written and captivating, Door to Innocence teaches us a great deal about healing past wounds and moving forward. Forgiveness is not about letting the transgressor off the hook; it's about letting yourself, the victim, off the hook. Childhood trauma leaves a mark, and the wounds can either fester or heal. I loved that the sisters always turned to God each time they felt lost; it reminded me of the blind faith the Bible requires of us. I also gained a better understanding of dyslexia. I learned that journaling is a great approach to healing, too. Door to Innocence will have readers rooting for the sisters all the way. The voice Danelle heard is a rare communication from God, and I love that God chose her, as she needed it so much. Prayer is the most powerful weapon we possess. Readers will love the beautiful message Elle H. Raye conveys.
