Dragon Diaries: Ascension by Kaekilia Leolynn is a book set on another planet and told from the viewpoint of two different characters. Xyleena is a young girl that tells most of the story. She was found with no memory of who she was and had strange dreams. With the help of friends and fate, she starts on a journey to help save the world and find out who she really is and regain memories of her past. The other narrator is Dimitri who is on a quest to regain what he feels is his: the throne that was wrongfully taken from his father centuries ago. Dimitri sets out to steal a diary from Xyleena so that she can’t continue on her quest that would end in his defeat if she succeeded before he did.
Dragon Diaries: Ascension started out a bit boring and had me wondering if it was going to be a good book, but I got more into it and by the end I had a hard time putting the book down. Dragon Diaries: Ascension is well written and well thought out with a few unexpected twists that add to the book and make it that much better. I was disappointed to learn that the story is broken up into a series, so I’m now awaiting the release of Dragon Diaries: Culmination to see how Xyleena’s and Dimitri’s stories end.
