Immerse yourself in an enthralling collection of poetry, artwork, and literary prose snippets with Dreaming Wide Awake. Ayris Hatton's poetry delves into themes related to nature and self-discovery. Imagine the rainbow as a bridge between heaven and earth. The sight of a UFO makes the narrator realize the self-absorbed, fragile nature of human life. The narrator wonders if everything they have done and everyone they have ever loved is all that they are. Waiting sailboats at the docks always seem eager to embark on their next adventure. Somehow, a broken ankle helps the narrator enjoy the small things in life. The first rain of fall helps the narrator deal with pain. The narrator finds hope by watching the flight of pelicans over the sea.
Ayris Hatton's poetry is both introspective and observational. This is one of the first things that I noticed about this book. The themes are varied. From touching upon the untamed beauty of nature to self-reflective poetry about everyday human experiences, this is an eclectic collection that I thoroughly enjoyed. On top of it, you will also find immersive literary prose snippets and beautiful artwork that I felt really complemented the rest of the collection. If I had to describe this book in one word, I would say it's "relaxing." Dreaming Wide Awake is a breezy read. Hatton's writing instantly pulls you into a state of peace and tranquility. These poems remind us of the miracles of nature. They also encourage us to enjoy every moment of our lives. This is definitely one of my favorite poetry books of the year, and I highly recommend it to all poetry lovers out there.
