Plagued by his father’s death, Danny keeps experiencing blood-curdling nightmares. As the story begins in Dreamland by Julia E. Clements, the pain of loss etched in both Danny’s and his mother’s hearts is still fresh in each of their minds. It is when Danny turns ten that his mother gives him a ticket to Dreamland and his nightmares turn into wonderful adventures. Everything changes for Danny as all he ever dreamed of comes alive when he travels to the magical land. From making new friends, encountering new and exhilarating adventures to exploring new lands, Danny is introduced to a world full of limitless opportunities. But danger lurks close by as Danny realizes he does not have the power to save his friend, Lucy, from an attack. In addition, Stregona, the evil witch from the dark forest, is out to destroy Dreamland as she joins forces with another evil being. Will Danny have the courage to go back to Dreamland or will he give up his adventures entirely?

Dreamland by Julia E. Clements is an enthralling story that will captivate any young reader. Even though the book is written for readers between the ages of 9-12, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading Dreamland. Julia E. Clements writes beautifully and vividly, creating scenes that are both gripping and enthralling. Every adventure that Danny goes on is filled with captivating action. Clements maintains creative uniqueness in her narration, which kept me turning the pages as I could not wait to get to the next adventure. The introduction of Stregona, the witch, and the evil being was also a creative extra which added an interesting twist to the story. This book will prove to be a wonderful read for anyone who is looking out for a new adventure.
