In Drop Dead Punk: A Coleridge Taylor Mystery, the thrilling mystery by author Rich Zahradnik, we find dogged reporter Coleridge Taylor, trolling the streets of 1975 New York City, intent on breaking the next big story. Stumbling across the bloody murders of two people outside of CBGB, the hot punk hangout, one a punk kid and one a police officer, he realizes he just might have gotten his break. As he digs further into the story, he finds there's way more to this than meets the eye. The 'punk' kid, Johnny Mort, was actually a good boy, a dog loving peacemaker. The police officer's partner, Samantha Callahan, one of the earliest female patrol officers in the city, is being accused of abandoning her partner just when he needed her most. Something isn't adding up, and Coleridge is determined to get to the bottom of it, even it means putting himself at risk.
I so enjoyed Drop Dead Punk. This book grabbed me from the first page, and I couldn't stop reading until the very end. Author Rich Zahradnik has done an amazing job at creating characters that the reader will truly care about, and if that's not a sign of a great writer, I don't know what is. Any reader who enjoys mysteries, an exciting read, a little bit of romance, or simply a great read will love Drop Dead Punk. I highly recommend this novel, and am excited to read more from Rich Zahradnik as soon as possible.
