Dropped–Off Dog (A Mostly-True "Tail") by Catherine Lagorio is an enlightening and adventurous children's pictorial book which introduces young readers to the experiences of an abandoned, homeless dog through the viewpoint of the dog himself. Most children love pets, especially dogs, but they usually only think of the happy home and playful, loving environment having a dog can bring. Children often don't realize what a dog might potentially have to go through if it suddenly loses all of those aspects of a home. The author has provided a unique, skillfully written story about a dog she now owns, one that has encountered a similar circumstance in its life.
It is important for young readers, or potential pet owners, to understand what a pet, or a dog in the case of the story, may have to go through if it is abandoned by people. The book has beautifully drawn illustrations to aid the imagination of a child as they absorb the text of the story being read to them or read by them. Dropped-Off-Dog (A Mostly-True "Tail") is sure to be a favorite book of young readers and pet owners, dog lovers alike.
