Dual Fires by J.L. Anderson follows the story of Gyver, a lightbreather who seeks to carve his path and bring glory to his name. Gyver and his airbreather companion, Hessen, have been fighting against the darkbreather forces until one night-cycle changes everything. Now the two must work together to change the fates of both sides while trying to keep their newfound secret. Can these two alter what the legends foretold or will they make the legends become reality?
The forces of light and darkness clash in Dual Fires by J.L. Anderson. This novel brings you into a new world where lightbreathers and darkbreathers are opposites of one another and have been long-time enemies. The two sides are similar to yin and yang in that they reflect opposing characteristics and powers. This concept of opposites makes the relationship between Gyver and Hessen so much better as we see how the two work together and re-forge their friendship. Between their antics and the ongoing war between the two forces, you are never left without some form of entertainment. This book does an amazing job of world-building as well as leaving room for character growth within the story. You can’t help but love Gyver even with all his quirks and flaws. As the main character, he plays an important role in showing different sides of the factions within the story. This book was such a good read that I had a hard time putting it down. I would highly recommend it.
