Each To Their Own by Diana J. Febry seems like a straight forward mystery novel. Dan doesn’t believe that Kaleigh, his ex-wife’s daughter, died in an accidental fall from a cliff and sets out to find the truth. The problem is that he isn’t the only one who suspects nefarious reasons for Kaleigh’s death. Many other seemingly unconnected people are also seeking the truth: Kaleigh’s college friends Luke and Jenny, who not only lost Kaleigh but her boyfriend Steve as well when he disappeared after the accident; Alice and her business partner and lover Mark, who are desperate to learn what information Kaleigh had before slipping off to start a new life together; Tony, a local businessman attempting to intercept a mysterious message from his father in a nursing home that links a past accident to Kaleigh’s unfortunate fall; and an expanding circle of friends linked together in the past, trying to find out how to secure their future against this sudden and unexpected death.
Each To Their Own is a mystery that encompasses numerous stories and ties them together expertly. It’s a fast paced thriller with adventure, twists, turns, and unexpected revelations right to the final page. I enjoyed how well Diana J. Febry wove these characters together into an evolving plot that ends in several surprises, and even leaves the future open to questions. On the surface it seems like a simple mystery, until the cast of characters comes together in strange and unexpected ways. Pay attention, because even a random passerby may fit into this complex and entertaining story. Each To Their Own is an excellent novel filled with interesting characters, exciting developments, and a story that you just can’t put down.
