Eddie Must Die is a work of fiction in the thriller, suspense, and action subgenres. It is aimed at mature readers and was penned by author Antonio Biggio. The story follows a gig booked by Iron Maiden in London in 1982 which has been targeted by a religious group angry about the band’s alleged links to Satanism. The planned attack is linked to a dead body found six weeks prior that Inspector Briggs isn’t willing to rule as a suicide. The mystery is a deep and complex web, and it will take all of Briggs’s skills as an investigator to get to the bottom of it and save the infamous band.
This book gripped me from the first word with the fascinating premise and thoroughly engaging mystery grounded in real-world social politics. Antonio Biggio has created an excellent protagonist in the form of Andrew Briggs, a capable and determined investigator who draws ever closer to the truth through clever deductions and hard-won previous experience. The layers of mystery that peel away as the story unfolds are sublime, each one tantalizingly leading to another set of questions that need to be answered. Eddie Must Die is a masterclass in thriller writing, with prose that never permits the story to stand idle for too long before taking another exciting turn deeper into the heart of the mystery. Overall, Eddie Must Die is a must-read for fans of the thriller genre, taking an unusual real-world inspiration and spinning a captivating tale from it. I recommend this book to all readers.
