Elise is a very talented young ballerina. She’s also a unicorn. She loves to dress up in pretty tutus and twirl around and around. But one day at dance class, Elise is worried when her twirling goes out of control and she starts to lose her balance. Her mother encourages Elise to keep trying, to work harder. “Practice makes perfect... that is why we are here... practice, practice and you will have a perfect twirl!” Her mother’s words encouraged Elise to try harder, to practice more. And she did. She didn’t give up. And the result was a beautiful performance by a talented young ballerina – and a unicorn at that.

Elise Leach is a young author with a creative imagination. Her picture book story, Elise the Unicorn Ballerina, will charm many young readers. Accompanied by beautiful and colorful illustrations, the story introduces young readers to the importance of working hard for a goal and never giving up. Sometimes this is difficult to do. The story uses simple language that will help young readers who are just learning to read. The creative script for the text adds its own flavor to the story’s presentation. The plot develops steadily as Elise’s character and talent are revealed. This is a simple, yet powerful way to present to youngsters the importance of practicing and never giving up. Good for you, Elise. Keep writing!
