Author Biography

All my daughter, Corrie, and I wanted to do was read good children's books on our YouTube channel (see Mommy, Nonny & Me). When the red tape involved became overwhelming, my husband, Ken, asked why don't you write your own book? Are you crazy?! I responded, but he had a great idea. With our grandchildren, in particular, Elizabeth, our four-year-old dynamo as inspirations; Elizabeth and the Wooly Bear was born.
At the heart of this matter, is the sincere belief that reading should be a blast! It should be a pleasurable experience for both the reader and the listener. With that said, we offer Elizabeth and the Wooly Bear to you and your children. So cuddle up and enjoy!

Elizabeth and the Wooly Bear: Life with Elizabeth Series Book 1 by Nonny and Elizabeth is a humorous picture book for young children. A girl named Elizabeth is brave and isn’t afraid of anything until one day she decides to go on a picnic. As she’s strolling along, Elizabeth hears many different sounds that startle her. Everything is okay again once she realizes that they are just the sounds of the woodland animals. Elizabeth continues looking for the perfect picnic spot when suddenly she hears an even louder sound that scares her. After seeing what animal made the horrid sound, Elizabeth flees back home as fast as she can, into the safe arms of her parents. Elizabeth soon learns something that makes her day less scary. What did Elizabeth discover? Pick up a copy of this adventurous book to find out.

Nonny and Elizabeth will delight young readers with yet another wonderful book. I enjoyed the story and the plot twist at the end. I wasn’t expecting it and it made me giggle. Children are going to love reading Elizabeth and the Wooly Bear and will learn from the main character, as she shows them that they can overcome anything. I find this to be highly important for children to learn at a younger age to allow them to tackle the tricky situations they may face as they grow older. The story reads smoothly and is simple enough for children to follow along easily. Once again the illustrations are adorable and professional. The wooly bear was my favorite and I hope to read even more work from these two amazing authors. I can't wait to see what Elizabeth will get up to next.

Elizabeth and the Wooly Bear is the first book in the Life with Elizabeth series by Nonny and Elizabeth. Elizabeth is a very little girl with a very big imagination. At four years old, she loves to explore in her backyard. Today, Elizabeth decided to go on a picnic. So, with help from her mommy, she made a big picnic lunch for herself, packed it into her backpack, and set out to explore her backyard. She runs into many interesting animals along the way, including a big, woolly black bear. Oh no!

Elizabeth and the Wooly Bear is an excellent early reader. With many illustrations, simple sentences, and common sight words, This book is a great choice for practicing reading skills and getting comfortable reading storybooks. Nonny and Elizabeth also use a lot of onomatopoeia, which is great for early reading skills and making the story fun. The formatting and phrasing of this book also make it a good choice for a bedtime story, as well as any other time that a parent would like to read a story to their child. For independent readers, I would suggest a kindergarten or first-grade reading level. If the story is to be read to the child, then a child of any age would enjoy it. I enjoyed the opportunity to review this book and look forward to seeing more books in this adorable series.

Soon, she sees a flock of birds flying high in the sky and encounters a chipmunk. However, when she finds a big, black wooly bear coming her way, Elizabeth's bravery is tested.
