In Dennis Currie’s Encrypted Patriot: The Ghosts That Protect America, after retiring from the Los Angeles Police Department, homicide investigator Cash Currie opens a private investigation agency in Asian Alley with former law enforcement colleagues, expecting routine surveillance work and background cases. That life changes after a sniper attacks his office and a classified government organization called the National Covert Operations Division forces him into Project Perseus, a covert program built around secret operations outside normal legal oversight. Alongside former partner Tanner, Cash enters a fortified Nevada compound where military officers recruit investigators to track the Shadow Dragon Society, a network accused of moving operatives, biological weapons, and assassination teams into the United States. Missions across Taiwan, the Philippines, Kentucky, California, and Greece expose hidden laboratories, compromised officials, covert killings, and intelligence leaks inside the very organization directing the operation.

Dennis Currie’s Encrypted Patriot anchors its excitement in accumulated pressure, and the author keeps tightening the screws until the entire operation feels one misstep away from catastrophe. Cash brings a weary decency to material that could easily sink into pure machinery. His instinct to protect children caught inside a military operation gives the novel moral weight at exactly the moment many thrillers abandon it. Jasmine Locke moving through the contaminated Ohio derailment site before authorities erase the evidence gives the book its sharpest nerve. The writing is fast-paced and intelligent, and there are plenty of twists. Where the author shines brightest is in how he describes locations. Kaohsiung Harbor feels damp, criminal, and watchful, while the underwater entrances beneath Grigoris Sotos’s Zakynthos estate suggest wealth built upon secrecy that has been festering for years. Readers drawn toward espionage novels based on covert networks, intelligence games, and operational details will enjoy this world. Very highly recommended.
