It is their sixth anniversary and Violet could not be more in love. Unfortunately, the feeling is not mutual and her husband, Gideon, does not share the same enthusiasm. As she hands him his breakfast, Gideon’s blood is boiling. He just can’t help getting angry at her and worst of all is her cheerful nature, which constantly gets on his nerves. He just cannot stand her. Six years of bliss for Violet have been a complete nightmare for Gideon. He seeks solace in his work, every day longing to get out of the house and loathing coming back to it. At some point, he can't take it anymore. Though comical at first, Violet and Gideon’s relationship in Ending in V by Michael Bussa starts taking a dark and shocking turn as the deep divide between the couple takes precedence.

Ending in V is yet another great book by Michael Bussa. Like his other work, this particular story stands out from just any other ordinary book. In Ending in V, Bussa skilfully balances between a dark concept and a humorous theme. The sharp contrast between Gideon's and Violet’s characters creates an interesting twist to the story line. Even though the story is brief, it is very impactful. The end was the most intriguing part. Ending in V concluded suddenly, leaving me still trying to grasp the narrative. Ending in V by Michael Bussa is gripping, humorous and shocking all at once. Already a fan, I recommend the book to other readers who are lovers of short stories.
