Entangling is the first book in the Kirin Lane Series by Kelley Griffin. Kirin adjusted to life after her husband passed away from cancer. When Kirin receives a phone call about her father, she is plunged into confusion as she navigates his funeral and the repercussions of the book he left her. The Marine Corps field manual is much more than it seems, and it helps reveal the reason her father never contacted her after her mother was killed. As Kirin sifts through the clues, she deepens her relationship with Sam, an attractive man who seems to be there whenever she gets into trouble. Kirin learns more than she could have imagined and realizes the people in her life have been strategically placed there for protection and by others who may want to kill her.
Kelley Griffin turns a Northeastern Tennessee city into the scene of a heart-pounding plot. The suspense is always at the edge of the story, like a dog with its teeth bared. Even as the heat turns up to a fiery blaze between Kirin and Sam, danger lurks around every corner. I was on the edge of my seat even after the climax as the story took another turn. Told from Kirin's and Sam's perspectives, the reader gets a full view of the events. Sam is at the heart of many women's fantasies - a handsome and loyal protector - and Kirin has the strength women admire and the stubbornness that drives men crazy. It's hard to trust anyone's position, and there are a lot of surprises. Readers who enjoy romantic suspense with strong characters will love Entangling.
