Escape from Ronwyn is the first novel in The Queen Reborn series by Mary Eggert. Set in a world that is divided between Hope and Fear, young Rane is given a mighty responsibility that she might never be prepared for. While most would think that living under the Hope’s Council is the best option, Rane believes something entirely different. They have a tight grip on her life and she is not okay with that. She runs away, hoping to escape the constant pressure and live incognito. However, it is not easy to run away and evade the clutches of the mighty Hope. Rane is powerful and she knows it, but she simply does not want to use those powers. However, when her security is threatened and she comes under the fire of magick, Rane has no other option but to harness her abilities and learn to be a queen for her people. Can she do it? Can she be the queen her people need?

Escape from Ronwyn is one of those stories that are perfect. You have action, adventure, suspense and a heroine that kicks ass and takes names. I loved the chemistry between Rane and Moira; the camaraderie they had and the way they supported each other was incredible. I hated the Council and everything they stood for. Mary Eggert did an incredible job of building the story while giving Rane enough substance to work with. Rane is smart, she understands her limits and she knows her advantages. I enjoyed how she was willing to do whatever it takes to walk away from the danger and then face it head-on when it comes knocking on her door. This is a good start to a series that is bound to become complex and rich as the story progresses.

Escape from Ronwyn is a work of fiction in the magical fantasy sub-genre and was penned by author Mary Eggert. Forming the first novel of The Queen Reborn series, the work is aimed at young adult readers specifically. The work introduces us to an alternative world lying just beneath the surface of our own: a world of magical powers and prophecies which have yet to come to light. The subject of one such prophecy is Rane, now eighteen and desperate to escape the clutches of Hope’s Council. As she embarks on an adventure from Ireland to London with her good friend Moira, magical forces from both sides of the fight rise up to recapture the girl who would be queen.

Author Mary Eggert has crafted an excellent and deeply layered tale of resistance which perfectly captures the young adult theme of responsibility versus rebellion. Rane is a highly likable protagonist whom readers are sure to root for: plucky and brave, but also somewhat misguided and flawed enough to relate to. The character development throughout the book holds up a strong story where readers can get to know friends and foes in close detail, making every chapter a new surprise. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere and commitment to the worldbuilding of this hidden magical realm amid the modern urban world, which is well woven into our reality and gives a lot of tension to everyday scenes when something magical suddenly occurs. Overall, I would definitely recommend Escape from Ronwyn for YA readers and adult readers alike: an immersive and well-penned fantasy adventure.

In Escape from Ronwyn: The Queen Reborn by Mary Eggert, the queen is not in a castle, surrounded by gold and affluence; she's being starved and exploited by the Hope Council, which is ironically inflicting fear like their enemy. Rane is an 18-year old that has not fully learned to control her abilities of Sight, Magick, Influence, and Inspiration. Her friends don't know that she has been prophesied as the Queen Reborn sent to rule and save them all from the war between Hope and Fear. In order to fulfill her destiny, she decides to escape to London with one of her trusted friends, Moira. She must find a way to control her surging well of energy, protect her friends, and escape the traps of the Hope and Fear soldiers after her. Mary Eggert takes readers on a magical adventure in Escape from Ronwyn.

Who saves the hero when they're busy saving the world? Fighting against being loved and respected by her friends and acquaintances in order to protect them is a big part of Rane's battles. Friendship and trust are major themes, centering the plot on discussions and communications, with some enthralling magical encounters strategically infused in between. Though I wished there were more magical scenes and fewer prolonged scenes, Mary Eggert succeeded in pulling me into the conversations and emotions of the characters. There are mild violent scenes, but nothing sexual or vulgar. Escape from Ronwyn is recommended to lovers of fantasy, dystopia, and a little romance in the young adult genre. I will definitely be checking out subsequent books in the saga.

The queen the world has been expecting for over a thousand years has finally been born, and two powerful factions seek to control her in the exciting urban fantasy, Escape From Ronwyn (The Queen Reborn Book 1) by Mary Eggert. After the queen died, the world fell into chaos. Fear fought Hope in the attempt to rule the world, and sections of the world died off. Because Magick was misused, no one knew who to trust. Amid all the turmoil, The Council was established to monitor Magick. Reincarnated as the prophesied Reborn Queen, both Fear and Hope sought to possess Rane from birth; Hope won. Raised under the strict and tyrannical supervision of The Council, Rane was being groomed to become a weapon. However, because she and her powers didn't fully cooperate, her abilities were inconsistent. For these faults, her caregivers continually degraded and punished her. When Rane turned eighteen, her rebellion came full circle, and she knew it was time to leave. Taking her best friend Moira with her, Rane ran away. Both Hope and Fear are looking for her. Can Rane survive and fulfill her destiny?

Escape From Ronwyn (The Queen Reborn Book 1) by Mary Eggert is a captivating fantasy with engaging characters and an enthralling storyline. The story is so absorbing, I lost track of time and didn't want to put the book down to go to bed. I admired Rane and enjoyed her character's progress. It was intriguing, as well as inspiring, to witness her mature as a leader and come into her power. All of the characters are well-developed and relatable, whether their personas are good or bad. Although it is frustrating that the story comes to an abrupt end, it is a phenomenal tale, and the story does continue in a sequel. This superbly written book will captivate fans of urban fantasy who enjoy stories that contain magic, adventures, and quests. They will not want to miss this exciting new series!
