Escape From Wheel is a work of fiction in the epic fantasy, romance, action, and adventure sub-genres, and was penned by author Michael Scott Clifton. Written as the second novel in the Conquest Of The Veil book series, we continue where The Open Portal leaves off in the magical world of Meredith. In this alternate world, protagonist Alexandria has undergone many adjustments already, but now she discovers that her father, Duke of the Wheel, has promised her hand in marriage to a wicked lord. As Alex tries to flee this fate, she once again crosses paths with the fiery Prince Tal, who is on a warpath that takes him right to her door. What follows is a passionate and adventurous chase through a truly magical world.
Author Michael Scott Clifton really knows how to sell a fully-rounded fantasy novel, and ensures that every page of this drama is filled with excitement, emotion, and immersive world-building. The scenery alone is beautiful to read, bringing the world of Meredith to life and turning our perceptions on their heads with familiar yet fantastical ideas. This is then layered with relatable characters who grow deeper with every trial they face. Alex is the standout, as a protagonist should be, and the close narration and presentation of speech and thought allow us to sit on her shoulder through some very harrowing moments. As gripping as it is gorgeous, I would highly recommend Escape From Wheel for fantasy, paranormal romance, and magical adventure fiction fans alike.
