Eternal Horizons: The Awakening is an epic fantasy adventure novel by J.T. Penn. After Serath and a rogue faction of the Seraphim rebelled against the Eternal One who created the universe, they bided their time in darkness and enacted their grand plans to conquer the universe. Now, it's the year 3127. The Eternal One has called upon the guardians of the light to restore balance to the universe. Astra, the Luminor guardian with the power to harness the light, leads a group of loyal guardians on a dangerous quest to find ancient artifacts spread across different realms to fight against the powerful Serath and his dark forces. Starting their journey in Luminor, the group must pass various trials and face their fears, insecurities, and shadows to reunite those artifacts and face Serath. However, victory demands sacrifice.
If epic adventure quests like The Lord of the Rings are your jam, Eternal Horizons: The Awakening is ready to sate all your fantasy appetites. Building on a grand premise, author J.T. Penn weaves a fascinating tale of light versus dark featuring brave heroes, all-powerful villains, and plenty of magic and action to delight fantasy lovers. It's progression fantasy at its very best. Penn's worldbuilding is fantastic, incorporating many different terrains into the story that are filled with their own unique magical flavors, such as the Enchanted Forest of Mirra, the Ice Caves of Glacia, the Floating Islands of Aether, and more. I loved the dynamic between the members of Astra's group. Each character is distinct and has their own specialty that helps the group on their quest. All in all, this is a brilliant start to what promises to be an immersive saga. Fans of the genre shouldn't miss out on this one!
