Fairydust to Daffodils: A Memoir by Patricia Steele is a heartrending story about a mother's unsuccessful mission to save her daughter, Chrissy, from Cystic Fibrosis. The memoir speaks about how they fought the odds and focused on the positives instead of the negatives but still could not save Chrissy. Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening disease that severely damages the lungs and the digestive system. It requires daily care though most people with the condition are able to attend school with treatment. Chrissy's story is poignant and her mother's ordeal in trying to save her daughter will leave readers teary-eyed. It is a story of pain, loss, grief, hope, and healing, and also that of a mother's struggles, emotionally and financially.
Patricia Steele is raw and honest when it comes to sharing her experiences and her ordeal, and the book will give readers a lot of information about Cystic Fibrosis. There is a lot to read in terms of emotions, feelings, pain, guilt, acceptance, and love. Fairydust to Daffodils is a good reminder for everyone to be grateful for everything they have and appreciate it whole-heartedly. It is painful to read about a child who is suffering from a dreadful illness and the final chapters will leave them heartbroken. Chrissy's personality and spirit, the author's strength and blessings, her friends and parents who were with her in this journey, and Chrissy's siblings will stay in the hearts of readers.
