“Eat whatever you want, and if anyone tries to lecture you about your weight, eat them too.” Turn your family meals into delightful cultural experiences by preparing dishes from different countries. Chinese Kung Pao, Colombian Sancocho, and French Quiche with Salmon will bring smiles. How about Polish Lentil Stew, Indian Fish Curry, Italian Pasta Primavera, Mexican Fajitas, and New Orleans Jambalaya? “Another serving, please,” of Shrimp Pad Thai, Russian Borscht, Spanish Paella, Irish Stew, Greek Moussaka with Turkey, and German Sauerbraten with Potato Dumplings. French Ratatouille sounds great for lunch too, doesn’t it?

Famous Dishes from Around the World by Moonstone Press is a cookbook containing a wonderful collection of ethnic recipes. These are translated in English and Spanish and are accompanied by pictures of the delicious looking dishes. There are brief notes on the recipes’ origin and calories and are actually some countries' national dishes. I was pleased to see recipes for foods I’m fond of and surprised at how easy these are to make. Each meal is very healthy, affordable to make, and doesn’t exceed $18.00 in cost. Condiments such as oils, spices, and vinegar are shared in many dishes, plus substitute ingredients, such as turkey used for some recipes. The sections Some Useful Tips and Tricks and Healthy Hints for the Home Cook will definitely be appreciated. This cookbook pays tribute to its immigrants who infused their beloved native foods into the American heritage, many of which have become staples in our lives.
