E.M. Wynne’s Never Trust a Wobbly Broom is about Poppy, a young witch on her first Great Broom Flight. On her way to the Pumpkin Festival, Poppy's broom refuses to fly straight. Poppy was determined to attend the festival and would not let her broom's behavior stand in her way. The broom has a mind of its own and tests Poppy’s courage and determination. During the flight, the broom turned into a pumpkin carriage with vines and even a unicorn. Poppy refused to give up on her first Great Broom Flight and stayed on her broom. Even with all the challenges, Poppy stood firm and arrived safely at the festival. Everyone was happy to see Poppy, and they enjoyed the festival.
In Never Trust a Wobbly Broom by E.M. Wynne, Poppy's journey to the Pumpkin Festival was very funny. I could not help but laugh out loud at times at the tricks played by the broom. The story was interesting from the first page, and there was always a surprise waiting. I could not turn the pages fast enough to find out what would happen. It was difficult to put the book down; I was too afraid I would miss something important. The action started on the first page and never stopped. The illustrations by Maia Batumashvili were bright and colorful. The story and the illustrations worked well together. The bright colors captured my attention, and I felt part of Poppy's journey. The book was beautifully written and has everything needed to be a success. I enjoyed reading the book, and it took me a while to return to reality.
