Public Record by Marc Hampson is about Elijah Wolfe, a CPA whose life is turned upside down. Elijah receives a call from attorney Martin Fenwick concerning a lawsuit filed against Elijah, his father, and his sister. The family did not know the plaintiff and had no idea why they were being sued. Elijah found out that the plaintiff had filed lawsuits against dozens of other people across West Michigan. The plaintiff is targeting families who lack the resources to fight back. Elijah begins investigating on his own, and his search leads him to the address of a lake house. As Elijah digs deeper, he finds that his family was chosen and someone has been watching his movements for some time. Elijah must uncover the real person hiding behind the plaintiff's name to stop the threat.
Public Record by Marc Hampson was intriguing. The pace allowed me enough time to process everything before moving on. Elijah was realistic and used his profession to find out why his family was a target. The action throughout the story kept me engaged. With all the twists and turns, I had no idea what would happen next. I could not put this book down; I was too afraid I would miss out on something. All I could do was turn the pages as fast as I could to learn more. I easily became part of Elijah’s search for the truth. The story was brilliantly written and had me hooked from start to finish. I enjoyed reading this book, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The ending was fitting after everything that had happened in the book.
