Finding Felicia by Laurie Bloomfield is the story of a adorable boy, Jack, who lived with his parents, grandparents and his cat, Felicia. Wherever Jack went to play, Felicia would accompany him. One day while playing, Felicia goes missing. Jack goes searching for her everywhere and meets some interesting animals like the sheep, rabbit, fish, frog, fox and a bird on the way. Finally Jack sits down and plays with the sand on the beach. Will Jack be able to find Felicia?
It is a delightful story of friendship, love and happiness. Jack finds joy in playing outdoors and enjoying the beauty of nature instead of being indoors. The book captures the fun of playing outdoors and it introduces kids to many new things which will help them improve their vocabulary and knowledge. The colorful illustrations complement the story beautifully and give life and movement to the characters and the scenes. Books with a concept or a message are good for kids as it is easy to teach them new things through story telling. This book is perfect for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Parents and grandparents can also use it for bedtime story telling.
I found myself searching for Felicia with Jack. The author draws readers into the story and kids will find all the characters Jack meets on his way while searching for Felicia very charming and interesting. The book also helps in developing a love for playing outdoors and enjoying all that nature offers.
