Set in a Florida military base after a disaster that makes all electronics useless, Finding Mikayla by Samantha Christy is about a young doctor who awaits the return of her military doctor boyfriend who is stranded in a foreign country, if not long since dead. When a stranger is brought into her clinic with a head injury, she finds herself strangely attracted to him and torn between remaining true to her boyfriend and this attractive stranger who seems to fit so well into her life. Combine her own doubts as to what is the right thing to do with his temporary amnesia, and she cannot decide between giving in to the lust of the moment and protecting her heart.
Finding Mikayla by Samantha Christy is a whole lot of foreplay between two covers. Mikayla and Mitch create just as many sparks during their casual flirtation as they do with the first touches of new attraction. Never mind what happens when Christy turns up the heat between these charismatic characters. Those scenes sent me looking for a big ol’ glass of ice water and a fan. I enjoyed how Christy artfully blends thought-provoking backstory with a large cast of secondary characters who are just as interesting as the young lovers, and they have one thing in common. They survived a natural catastrophe that cost them the lives of many loved ones. While some choose to wait for the return of husbands and wives, others choose to start all over with someone new in their lives, and neither choice is bad.
