Finding Ramanata: Daughter of the Summit and Sea by Robyn Dabney follows Klarke Ascher, a talented young climber from the kingdom of Ectair. A harsh king rules the kingdom, so Klarke, like most women, has very few rights. She constantly has to prove herself in an elite climbing group made up mostly of men. While struggling with grief and the pressure to go through with an arranged marriage, Klarke becomes aware of a dangerous political battle involving the king and a powerful underground group. Guided by her mother's dying words, Klarke embarks on a quest to "find Ramanata." As she uncovers secrets that could jeopardize her kingdom, Klarke is drawn into a world filled with danger, betrayal, and forbidden love. Can she reclaim her life and discover the truth about Ramanata?

Robyn Dabney's Finding Ramanata: Daughter of the Summit and Sea is a fascinating YA fantasy. While reading it, I felt as though I entered a world structured to hold women back at every turn. Watching Klarke fight against those limits gave the story much of its power. The book blends intense climbing scenes with political tension, social conflict, and the quiet fear people endure under a controlling ruler. I appreciate how Dabney explores rigid political systems and the hardships that come with trying to challenge them. The story also shows how loyalty and hardship guide the choices the main character makes, adding depth to both the plot and Klarke’s personal journey. Even though the world is fictional, the situations reflect real struggles tied to freedom and self-identity. It’s a moving story that I’m sure YA fantasy fans and readers who enjoy strong female leads will appreciate.
