In "Finding the Prosperity Within" author Brian Webster offers advice for those readers who need a career revitalization or need to pursue prosperity and success. The author tells of Jamie who works for a Silicon Valley company called ESE and watches as rival company VDEP is winning all the business. Jamie has invested time and money in ESE after leaving in despair from previous positions. She meets Tim, a success coach, who works with Jamie to go beyond making an unconscious list of her talents and to work hard "giving up habits that you've been perfecting your whole life" (p.41). Tim tells her to make three lists: (1)a list of all the things she does well, (2)a list of all the things she'd like to do, and (3) a list of all the things she'd like to learn. This list, Tim tells Jamie, will be the compass for all the steps she'll be taking as she has faith in what she does. Tim says that believing in oneself and not taking in negative opinions about who you are or what you are doing is tantamount to success. On page 208, he advocates that "Changing your perspective, understanding that knowledge and talent have always been yours, frees your thought to express those native qualities in all their grandeur and without limitation."
"Finding the Prosperity Within" is a well-written self-help book with directions that are simple for the reader to follow. That author Brian Webster's advice is couched in the story of Jamie who follows the easy to follow steps given her by Tim makes "Finding the Prosperity Within" valuable for the reader who may well be pondering career changes or for the reader who is interested in just improving himself. There are lots of self-help books but this one is a "keeper".
