Steve is an ordinary man, living a fulfilling life with his family and enjoying what he does. Although he is happy with his life, recently things have become a little difficult for him. He enjoys his work/personal life balance, but his boss is making things a little hard for him by pressuring him to work more hours and work late. When things become unbearable, he turns to God to guide him, help him and show him a way that would make things easier for him. What can he do to make things easier for himself? Is he making his personal struggles harder than they really are? Is he being tested by God and if he is, can he succeed?
Fledgling by Jason Rosensteel is a compelling Christian story in which a man is trying to live his life and just be, but the circumstances and life get in the way. What I loved about this story was that the main character, Steve, was an average man. I could see my father in him and I could see myself in him. He could be the man walking on the street right next to me. This makes Steve easily relatable and believable. The author made it very easy for me to connect with him and get invested in his journey. His struggles became mine; I felt his despair, his emotions, and his desperation to find an answer to his prayers. This novel proved to be an impactful journey for me, one that I will keep with me for a long time. Very inspirational!
