Flobella: Adventures in the Creative Idea Dimension is a work of children’s science fiction and fantasy penned by author Altheta Waverly, and forms the first book of The Creative Path. Our title character is twelve years old and starts out living a pretty dull and tragic existence owing to being orphaned at the age of four. But when Flobella meets a little fairy called Mumu, a whole new dimension opens up for her to explore. In the Creative Idea Dimension, Flobella finds herself following the path home and learning new things along the way. Her destiny as a creatress is revealed, giving her immense power, but there are those that would like to see her talents cut away before she even has a chance to discover them.

Settling somewhere in the realm of The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland, this delightful fairy tale adventure has a modern science fiction twist and some deeper educational themes about the nature of creativity. Flobella’s life with her unpleasant aunt and uncle is an appropriately grim contrast to the colorful creatures and magical settings she journeys through, using imagination to look beyond the horrible immediate surroundings of her life. Author Altheta Waverly writes in a simple style that is easy for her audience to access, with great vivid descriptions and some zippy dialogue to help endear us to her wide cast of characters. Overall, Flobella: Adventures in the Creative Idea Dimension is the first in what’s sure to be a series of whimsical and very enjoyable adventures.
