In Forewarned by Tracey Phillips, Daphne spent the summer in Carlson, Indiana, staying at her Nana’s cottage with her mother and brother. Still upset about her parents’ recent divorce, Daphne held her mother responsible for how much their lives had changed. Daphne was also uneasy around her mother’s new boyfriend, Tony; there was something about him that put her on edge. Daphne could sense when something bad was going to happen in the future, and got the same feeling when she passed the neighbors' house. Three teenage kids, Lara, Phillip, and Lewis, were staying next door for the summer, and Daphne was soon drawn into their world. Around them, Daphne felt like she belonged and could escape her own troubles for a while. But Daphne couldn't shake the feeling that something horrible was happening to someone in the neighbors' family.
In Forewarned by Tracey Phillips, the plot was fast-paced, and I was hooked from the beginning. There was a lot of action, and the events were described in detail. It was a roller coaster of smoking pot, drinking, and doing everything a teenager should not be doing. With all the twists and turns, I never knew where the plot would take me, and I was not disappointed. The writing style was engaging, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were realistic and relatable. Daphne was a typical teenager who wanted to be part of everything cool and needed a sense of belonging. The story was excellently written and kept my attention throughout. I could not put the book down and felt sad when I finished reading.
