Frank Cullotta’s Greatest (Kitchen) Hits: A Gangster’s Cookbook is written by Frank Cullotta and Dennis N. Griffin. In his introduction, Frank Cullotta states he’s best known for his exploits and association with the Chicago Outfit and being Tony Spilotro’s street lieutenant in Las Vegas. Another interest is cooking, inspiring him to compile this Gangster’s Cookbook. His signature Upper Crust Pizza recipe is a must-try, as is Braciole with Steak, and Mushroom Stew. Cavatelli, Sausage Soup, and Italian Grilled Cheese Sandwich will make you smile. How about those meatballs, as well as the family’s secret pasta sauce? Mostaccioli is best served with a wine such as Valpolicella, Caterina, or Doctora Zardozi. Vegans will like Eggplant Parmesan Bake, and Tomato and Pasta Sheet Pan Roast.
“You’re either at the table or on the menu.” - Al Capone. You’ll certainly want to be at the table eating these hearty dishes that look so delicious in the photos accompanying the recipes. Regrettably, Frank Cullotta died on August 20, 2020, before this cookbook was published, but his cooking legacy will be remembered through his recipes. Watermelon Salad with Feta and Auntie’s German Apple Cake caught my eye. Other desserts I like are Cranberry Freeze, and Cannoli & Filling. Many recipes tend to have unusual variations to them, making them more appealing. I always wanted to try Cream Puffs, now I get the chance. There are other interesting recipes that I look forward to trying. Frank Cullotta’s Greatest (Kitchen) Hits: A Gangster’s Cookbook deserves a place in your kitchen.
