Each generation presents something that's unique about them. Generation Next: A Journal Of Life By Ms. Chanda W Johnson displays a variety of tools that children of today can use to stimulate and enhance their minds through education, learning and activities. This book is ideal for pre-teens to teenagers. Children of today have interests that are focused around activities that tend to blur the lines between life and fantasy. Chanda inspires your child to think about different aspects of their future - from leadership, bullying and daily routines to setting goals. “This new generation is completely different. Most of your time is spent on social media of some sort, playing video games, or being glued to an electronic device. You consider electronics to be your main source of entertainment,” says Chanda. This book helps to challenge and change this concept; it helps to create a mental paradigm shift to self improvement.

We need more books like this because with things like social media, and fantasy through games, movies and books on the rise, our children tend to create a life of isolation and there is a lack of self discovery. By working through the activities, answering the questions candidly and performing the exercises as required in the book, children can truly develop their own journal of life and gauge their strengths and weaknesses. Journaling is a great way to incite awareness and to see how much one has grown. If you're seeking a book that can help to lead your child along the path of personal development, begin here.

Do you know who you are or who you want to be? Let’s face it, our kids are living a very kind of childhood than we did. We ran outside until it was dark, meanwhile our children stay inside on their electronic devices. Generation Next is an attempt to help children develop healthy, confident, and active lives. Chanda W. Johnson offers Generation Next as a journal for children to discover who they are, where they are from, what they like, and how to find what makes them happy presently and in the future. She encourages children to be creative, imaginative, open and adventurous. She offers a way for the next generation to take charge of their own happiness and fulfilment. After offering am encouraging portion, the author presents questions for the reader to think about. Not only does she inspire the readers to become the greater version of themselves, she helps the reader find the source of this greatness- our Creator. I recommend this book for children age 8 to 12. I have always wanted the school curriculum to provide more than just education but encourage personal and cultural esteem and teach life skills. This book is a great attempt to fill that void. I give this book 5 stars.
