GermAttaxx! Superheroes Unite! by Fari Eliassi is an educational and informative story about good hygiene and health. Spot the dog was happy that Jasmin and Justin were home but Justin was sick. Spot was upset because it was the third time Justin was sick since his school reopened. His mom thought he had touched his face, eyes, and mouth without washing his hands after he went out into public places and touched things that were covered with germs. Spot ran outside and the snow shovel fell on his head. Shovel, a magic shovel, explained to Spot what germs were and they both went to Justin's room. After learning about germs and how these could make people sick, Spot decided to destroy them. The shovel changed him from Spot, the house dog, to Sepidius the Superdog who was the Destroyer of Germs. Let us join Sepidius and see how he and his team of animals protected people from germs that made them sick. Would this GermAttaxx team be able to help?
Fari Eliassi's approach to the topic is fun and entertaining and Christopher Beaubien makes the scenes come alive with his delightful and colorful illustrations, taking children on a fantastical adventure along with the whimsical characters. The layout of the book is also captivating and will pull in readers to learn more about how germs work when they are in the body. GermAttaxx! Superheroes Unite! is about hygiene and cleanliness and how it can affect health, and it is also about kindness and empathy. It is a good storybook for tutors and parents to help children understand the importance of having healthy habits so that they are protected from germs that make them fall sick. The whimsical characters and the adventure make this book a must-read for all children.
