Gracie's Gone by Carol Soloway is the story of two people who just became a family, but a tragedy hits them hard and nothing is the same after that. Alexandra and David found each other when things were not going that well in their lives. Alex was just out of a messy divorce and custody battle and David had lost his wife. Together they found love and they got married. Alex’s three sons and David’s little daughter Gracie were going to be a family at David’s beach house where their parents vowed to provide everything for them. However, in just a blink of an eye, Gracie was gone. The sweet 6-year-old little girl vanished without a trace and her parents had no idea what had happened to her. Terrified out of their minds, Alex and David want nothing more than to find their little girl and bring her home. What can they do in a situation like this? Who is the person behind Gracie’s disappearance? Will they ever be able to bring Gracie home?

This was an emotional and terrifying novel to read. The author wrote this family drama in the best way possible. Carol Soloway let the suspense simmer, she kept the momentum going and she literally surprised me with the ending. I loved how the author was carefully educating readers about how children suddenly go missing every day and what can be done in such a situation. The tension was thick until the very end; it was impactful and it left me with an ache in my heart that just wouldn’t go away. Carol Soloway's writing style almost coerces the reader to read on and on, making sure that they are so immersed after a couple of chapters that putting the novel down isn’t even an option. Impactful and emotional!
