Guitar Quotes: Positive and Funny Quotes from the World's Best Players by David A. Ogren is a wonderful book. While the quotes curated by Ogren are from guitar players, they are actually profound and full of life wisdom. The book contains six chapters all suitably starting with the letter “P” i.e. Playing, Practicing, Passion, Performance, Personalities, and Players. The quotes are well-formatted: short, centralized lines and ample spacing between the lines. There is also a delightful guitar emoji between the quotes. Occasionally and appropriately, there is one quote presented with a much bigger font occupying one whole page. This is an effective way to make the quote stand out and attract readers’ attention. Overall, the style of formatting is good for easy reading.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the quotes even though I am not a guitar player. It is easy to see that Guitar Quotes is full of wisdom, which was probably Ogren’s intention when he was curating the quotes. There are quotes related to truth, such as “Technically, I'm not a guitar player, all I play is truth and emotion.” There are quotes related to love, such as “First guitars tend to be like first loves: ill-chosen, unsuitable, short-lived and unforgettable.” There are even quotes related to God, such as “God is playing my guitar, I am with God when I play." There are other quotes relating to different aspects of life, such as friendship, communication, work, heroes, and even hypnosis. Guitar Quotes is definitely a book not just for music lovers; it is also suitable for readers who are looking for life lessons.
