Haunted is a paranormal romance novel written by Shari Nichols. Karly was not in the market for a new romance. She was still recovering from her breakup with Chad, who had been unfaithful to her, and the store she and her sister, Sophie, had opened came first. Karly was not at all sure if or how they would survive the virulent attacks that Jonathan Reiss, a wealthy real estate developer, was currently waging against her. She had done a reading for Reiss’s wife and the issue of his having a girlfriend had been revealed. Reiss had responded with a lawsuit alleging that she was a fraud, and was also attacking her on social media. Her scheduled appointments for readings were being cancelled in droves, and the attorney’s fees threatened to eat up every cent the two sisters had.
Shari Nichols’ paranormal romance novel, Haunted, pairs some of the finest erotic writing I've read with a fascinating and suspenseful hunt to discover the identity of a powerful ghostly presence and to help it find peace. The author’s two main characters are evenly matched -- both strong, stubborn and determined, and also both bearing scars from past hurts -- scars that make trust and commitment very difficult indeed. Add an angry ghost and a vengeful former girlfriend into the mix, and there's enough tension in the plot to make one wonder if the two will ever make things work. There are a number of sensual episodes in this book, but the scenes are beautifully described moments that feature emotional rapport, tenderness and love. I loved following as Karly uses her paranormal investigator skills to track down her ghost. The author's familiarity with the subject makes her story credible and gives it authenticity. Haunted will delight fans of the paranormal and spicy romance alike. It's most highly recommended.
