The STRATOS team has vanished. From the remnants of the once fearsome global counter-terrorism operations unit, two factions emerge with drastically different perspectives on the future of Earth. The Transhumanism Coalition advocates for a balanced integration of humans and AI, while the Robotic Supremacy Movement, led by Viktor Dragovic, asserts that humanity’s evolution can only come through the domination of machine intelligence. David Friedman's AI project is central to both factions’ plans, but it has taken on a life of its own due to David’s tinkering with the formula during the creation of HAVAH. David and his colleagues must unite to thwart Dragovic’s agenda for global domination. As these behemoths battle for the planet's soul, an old enemy waits, seeking the perfect opportunity to unleash chaos in Keng Tiong Ng’s Havah: Beyond Humanity.

Keng Tiong Ng outdoes himself in the second book of the series. Havah: Beyond Humanity begins shortly after the final acts of the previous novel, but Keng’s use of strategically placed flashbacks creates compelling continuity arcs that enable readers new to the series to follow this thought-provoking adventure as either a standalone or a continuation. The predominantly technical dialogue complements a few moderately romantic instances, highlighted by David’s discussions with his team members about the repercussions of editing Havah’s code and Dragovic’s explanations to his underlings regarding how he intends to realize his visions of the future. The highly detailed battle scenes transition seamlessly from gunfights to computer-based sparring and back, immersing readers in the narrative. Keng’s creative storytelling style blends a gradual pace with futuristic world-building to craft a riveting tale that will captivate action enthusiasts and science fiction purists alike.
