Healing the Separation is an extremely intuitive story. I think it is one of the better stories I have read. The story made me think about how things really are during the time we are living.
I found myself absorbed in the storyline and participating in the activities suggested in the book. What I really had to do was come to the realization that forgiveness of yourself can only come about when you ask others to forgive you for the choices you made. A large part of this book is taking responsibility for everything that happens to us. As we look back on our lives we need to search for what we did to bring about a situation. I found this very difficult to do. Instead of asking why “Joe” hates us we should ask what did I do to bring about the hatred in “Joe.”
Too often we deny responsibility by saying it was God’s will. We try to relieve our self of all accountability. By proclaiming a "Higher Power" is to blame we leave our self guiltless and innocent. I agree with the statement in the book "you are responsible for everything you do." The author states this is a bringing together the higher power and self. I am not sure I am in total agreement with the author’s thesis: such as a child that has been abused, I do not think it is healthy for the child to take responsibility for such a physical invasion. While I do understand what the author is saying, I believe there are exceptions. However, this book is well written and can be very helpful to many.
