Lizzy Chapman has barely come to terms with her mother's death when she receives more bad news: her father has cancer. She tries to recover her late mother's ring, which fell into a pond some time ago, hoping to give him a little happiness to hold on to. She recruits Ian Morrison, a diver, to fetch it, and in the process, they recover the ring and a mysterious flash drive. Lizzy suspects that there is more to this odd-looking drive than meets the eye, and with Ian's help, she tries to access the information. Their innocent actions open a Pandora's box of conspiracies and fraud, ultimately attracting the wrath of influential people who don't want its contents revealed and are willing to kill for it in Laurel Martin's Her Last Few Days.

In Laurel Martin's Her Last Few Days, the engaging narrative style alternates between past and present to build suspense and help readers grasp the complex plot. The author skillfully depicts the origins of the main characters, describing Ian and Lizzy's first meeting and exploring Lizzy's family dynamics, as well as Ian's motives for helping her uncover the contents of the drive. Action fans will enjoy the intense combat scenes, which highlight the climax, while romance fans will appreciate the subplot focused on Ian and Lizzy's growing friendship.
