Herald, the Christmas Dachshund by JC Konitz is about an adorable little puppy. Herald narrates the story and shares how one day a man with pointy ears comes to take him to a special place. The man was one of Santa's elves, and Herald was off to the North Pole. Herald describes all the new animals and things that he sees. One night he is loaded into Santa's sleigh. He was supposed to be a special present for a little girl, but something unexpected happened. Herald returns with Santa to the North Pole. Santa comes up with an extra special job for him. He gets to help Santa spread Christmas cheer around the world in a way that is perfect for a little dachshund!
Herald, the Christmas Dachshund has all the elements of a great Christmas story, with Santa, animals, and sharing gifts with others. JC Konitz has written a story that all dog lovers, especially those that own dachshunds will love. The illustrations by Blueberry Illustrations are so sweet. Herald is lovable with his big brown eyes and floppy ears. I loved the picture of him covered in paint; his expression is priceless! I always enjoy Christmas stories that share the value of making others happy. Kids will enjoy seeing how Herald helps Santa in a way that only he can. It might even inspire kids to see how they can spread Christmas cheer to others. Herald, the Christmas Dachshund is full of Christmas cheer and just right to read with your favorite pet cuddled up next to you.
