Hitchens Manor by Zachry Wheeler offers a fun and quirky spin on the haunted house theme. For two hundred years, the manor has seen its share of owners, all of whom seem to face some spooky fate thanks to its ghostly inhabitants. However, when the new owner arrives, they meet the shock of their life. Each haunting encounter adds a blend of strange yet funny moments, making for a unique take on the supernatural. The unexpected twists reveal the true intentions of the mysterious owner, leaving readers both surprised and entertained. The plot is refreshingly original, turning traditional haunted house tropes upside down by introducing a master of chaos who is even more frightening than the ghosts.

I found Hitchens Manor to be an enjoyable and delightfully bizarre read. The pacing is just right—fast enough to keep me hooked while sprinkling in dark humor that made me chuckle, even in the creepy moments. The action is wild, providing many laughs, though it might not suit everyone. While the characters aren't incredibly deep, they're memorable and fit the story's unique tone beautifully. The ghosts mix menace with a comical clumsiness that adds charm, while the owner's odd behavior kept me on my toes. Zachry Wheeler's inclusion of themes like fear, adaptability, and the slippery line between heroism and villainy adds some interesting layers. Horror and humor make Hitchens Manor a fast-paced and entertaining read. If you like your scares served with a side of satire, this book is a wild ride you won't want to miss.
