Nothing could have prepared the young Elvish Princess Gwendolyn ‘Gwen’ Evir for what would come next after she stowed away in Queen Wendolyn’s ship. She witnessed the cold-blooded murder of her mother, the queen, at the hands of Morrigan, a dark goddess. Queen Wendolyn had been on a mission to locate an analog, a descendant of King Arthur who could wield the true power of the legendary sword Excalibur, the only weapon that could end Morrigan. It was bad enough that Morrigan had made off with the sword. A decade later, Gwen is determined to finish what her mother started. Morrigan is waging war on Elvish worlds, but this is just part of her bigger plan for the galaxy. No one can stop the dark goddess, not without Excalibur. As Gwen embarks on a journey to Earth in search of an analog, will she survive the war coming her way? Will she succeed in the same mission that claimed her mother’s life? Find out in A. B. Franklin’s Gwen’s Gambit: Excalibur’s Legacy, Book One.
This pulse-pounding page-turner will seize you by the scruff of your neck, propel you forward, and won’t let go until the final word. A. B. Franklin’s Gwen’s Gambit is a must-read for aficionados of fast-paced epic space operas blended with high-stakes and high-octane action, adventure, thrills, and more. Featuring a cast of exciting, dynamic characters, Franklin treated me to an ingenious plot anchored in a gripping backstory. The subtle tone of the storyline, spell-binding cliffhangers, and jaw-dropping plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat. The colorful, evocative depictions brought the scenes to life on the pages. It felt like I was watching a Hollywood action/space opera movie. Fans of Marvel franchises, such as Thor, have a new galaxy-shaking saga to explore with this book. The sharp, nuanced conversations, constantly shifting from light to tense and urgent, gave depth to the cast’s conflicts, intricate emotions, and complex traits. This is an incredible debut in the Excalibur’s Legacy series. I loved it. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next installments.
