Barbara Benson, aka BB, never thought she’d go on a date with a younger man but when she makes a deal with her daughter, she finds herself slowly falling in love in Holiday Love by Raykel Tolson. BB is quite apprehensive about dating Richard Jones, who was once her daughter’s softball coach, but the chemistry between the two is undeniable. Richard doesn’t care about their age difference and is determined for BB to be his.
Holiday Love by Raykel Tolson is a wonderful book that I think touches on several different aspects of love that aren’t represented enough. The first is age-gap love which has become more popular, but still isn’t greatly represented in romance novels and the second is an older couple in general. While BB is about a decade older than Richard, they are both on the older side for a main couple in a romance book. I think this type of representation is really important as it shows that you can find love at any age. On top of that, the book is very well written and the overall story touched my heart. BB is such a strong female character but it’s so clear that she has a giant heart and, throughout the story, the only thing I could think of was that she deserved to be happy with Richard. Holiday Love is an amazing romance novel and I love that I finished this book just as we are going into the festive season.
