Who doesn’t love Christmas? Everybody loves Christmas, but Holly Holiday has lifted this love for Christmas to a new height. Holly Holiday and the Christmas Forest by Katie Anderson explores the love and excitement of Christmas. Holly loves the Christmas tree most of all. Live Christmas trees look beautiful and fill the house with that wonderful fir smell, but they have one major problem. They die. Learning of the destruction of the traditional live Christmas tree was very saddening to Holly. So she came up with the idea to allow the next Christmas’s wonder and beauty to continue. Holly shares her idea with her family, who are all on board. The following Christmas started a tradition that continued to grow as Holly aged.

I remember as a boy thinking that throwing away Christmas trees was a great waste. As a result, I recruited several neighbor boys, and we went around the block, pulling Christmas trees that families threw away, back to my house, where we would build a fort. However, Holly came up with a much better idea for handling the situation of dead Christmas trees. In Holly Holiday and the Christmas Forest, Katie Anderson shares Holly’s love for Christmas trees and her solution to throwing Christmas trees away after Christmas. Your children will probably want to start a similar tradition of their own. The wonder and joy of Christmas come shining through this book. You can almost smell the tree and taste the hot cocoa. For good measure, Art Mawhinney shares his magical talent for illustrating the book.
